The Project

Kingspan Timber Solutions were appointed in the construction of a new teaching block consisting of 6 new classrooms, a hall, offices and toilet facilities, which was located on an existing playground and caretaker hut.

The onsite programme was challenging as there was tight site access and a 6-week build programme. The structure had to be built in 2 halves, as this would enable the contractor to deliver the classrooms ready for the new school term in September.

The Design

The Kingspan LOGIC+ external wall system provided a quick erection time, allowing the school to accommodate new pupils in the given timescales. The offsite construction method of Kingspan LOGIC+ also ensured noise and pollution was kept to a minimum, which was key as works continued during school time and the new structure would adjoin an existing classroom facility. Large 600mm exposed glulam purlins allowed for bright spacious classrooms with internal features. Kingspan Timber Solutions provided advice on fire mitigation during construction because of the new classrooms adjoining an existing building. The Kingspan LOGIC+ building system was erected ahead of program, ensuring the project was completed ready for the new school term.
