The project

As part of a major regeneration project in the London Borough of Havering, we were commissioned by Hill to build 75 affordable homes, tp be located on 25 redundant garage sites across the borough. Built to Lifetime Homes standards, the new homes can be easily adapted in the future to accommodate the changing needs of residents.

The design

The two and three bedroomed homes were constructed using the Kingspan LOGIC+ pre-insulated timber-frame building system. This is a build system which benefits from the thermal bridging modelling. As an offsite method of construction, Kingspan LOGIC+ not only provides a cost and time-effective option for the new housing, but also provides an efficient building envelope that the project demanded. The offsite method of construction was chosen due to the restricted access available across most of the small brownfield sites. It also helped to reduce disruption to existing residents and reduce waste on-site.

Kingspan Timber Solutions have been our top timber frame supplier for a number of years. They were open in terms of the use of layouts, and their flexibility is an important part of the relationship we've had with them. We know they are capable in both design and engineering and flexible in the service we require from them.
