The Project

As part of a major regeneration project in the London Borough of Havering, Kingspan Timber Solutions was commissioned by Hill to build 75 new affordable homes, which were to be located on 25 redundant garage sites across the borough. Built to Lifetime Homes standards, the new homes can be easily adapted in the future to accommodate for the changing needs of residents.

The Design

The two- and three-bedroomed homes have been constructed using the Kingspan LOGIC+ pre-insulated timber-frame building system. This is a build system which benefits from the latest in thermal bridging modelling. As an offsite method of construction, Kingspan LOGIC+ not only provided a cost- and time-effective option for the new housing, but also provides the energy-efficient building envelopes that the project demanded. Kingspan LOGIC+ provided a construction solution for the restricted access available across most of the small brownfield sites. It also helped to reduce disruption to existing residents and reduce waste on-site, due to the offsite manufacturing process and the efficient on-site build.
